My formal education began at Furman University where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree while majoring in Philosophy. Not long after graduating from Furman I decided I wanted to become an elementary school teacher so I went back and got my Bachelor of Science degree from Salisbury University while majoring in Elementary Education.I was fortunate to have the opportunity to do my student teaching in New Zealand. I later went on to receive my Master’s degree from Salisbury University in Public School Administration.
I began my career in education teaching 2nd grade. I then went on to teach 1st, 4th and 5th grade for the next nine years. Next, I was a math coach for three years until I was offered the position of assistant principal. I am getting ready to head in to my 6th year in this role.
I was a Nationally Board Certified Teacher for ten years but did not seek renewal upon leaving the classroom. Currently I am enjoying becoming a Connected Educator. I began blogging two years ago and have been hooked ever since.
